Harriet Huss's Bio:
Harriet Huss is a professional painter whose work has been collected internationally. Graduating with an art degree in 1973, Harriet has been a lifelong artist. She began her painting career as a featured artist for Island Art Gallery, Grand Cayman Island. In 1998, together with a group of local artists, Harriet created the Melrose Bay Gallery in the lakeside town of Melrose, Florida. She continues to assist in running this lively art gallery as it enters its tenth year.

Harriet’s popular images are available in numerous galleries throughout Florida from the Panhandle, Gainesville and Jacksonville, along both coasts and south to the Florida Keys.

Beginning as a watercolorist, Harriet has developed a mixed media technique to achieve richer color, deeper texture and luminous imagery. She employs media as diverse as original digital photography, acrylic, watercolor, colored pencil and watercolor crayon in varying combinations.

Influenced by Fauvist color palettes, Chagall’s dreamlike imagery and Kandinsky’s use of line, Harriet’s work conveys an ethereal sense of life. The wild oak hammock that surrounds her painting studio is a source of inspiration as well. Brilliantly colorful renditions of palm trees, landscapes and wildlife are the subjects of Harriet’s story of the Real Florida. Making use of abstract and figurative images alike, Harriet Huss captures an entrancing and fanciful world for the viewer.
