Melanie Peter's Bio:
Melanie is a native of Central Florida. For three generations, her family have been citrus growers located near Leesburg. They still own the homestead and surrounding land.

Melanie has painted portraits in oil and pastel for 40 years, and painted landscape on location. She demonstrates portrait painting for arts groups and teaches drawing and painting at the Harn Museum and Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville. She was the topic of a five-page feature for the March-April 2003 issue of Pastel Journal Magazine and included in Pure Color, The Best of Pastel from North Light Books. She has exhibited, and won awards in national and international juried exhibitions. Her poems have appeared in The Florida Review. She also wrote an environmental column for The Valley Times in Pleasanton, California. Melanie has been awarded six painting and writing fellowships at Atlantic Center for the Arts in New Smyrna Beach.
