The Conservation Trust for Florida is partnering with the Alachua Audubon Society to keep the entire 6.5 mile trail open at Barr Hammock Preserve.
Due to the privacy concerns of a few neighboring families, the Alachua County Commission will entertain a request to close a portion of the trail during their meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 28th at 5 PM.

Closing the section nearest to these families would essentially cut off access to the majority of the trail to us all. The Conservation Trust is suggesting several actions to address the concerns of these landowners, but in the meantime.....

You can help keep the trail open!

1. Attend the County Commission meeting on Tuesday, October 28th at 5 pm.
(Wear a "Keep the Barr Open" sticker at the meeting. Thanks to Alachua Audubon Society for printing stickers!)
2. Send an email to the County Commission at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
3. Submit a letter (<150 words) to the Gainesville Sun here.

4.  Schedule a meeting with Commissioners Chuck Chestnut, Lee Pinkoson, or Susan Baird and tell them how important it is to keep the Barr Hammock Trail open in its entirety. Schedule the meeting through Devin or LaToya at 352-264-6900.
