* * *
Traveling the Sunshine State with his cameras, John Moran seeks his vision of natural Florida as it must have appeared to Ponce de Leon and other early strangers in paradise. Moran's work celebrates the magic of a unique landscape born of water and blessed with beauty beyond measure.
Moran's remarkable portfolio of Florida photography highlights a 20-year odyssey to discover the soul of one of the world's great places, and features his striking photographs of the alligators, beaches, birds, rivers, springs, palms, turtles and flowers that make Florida the amazing place we call home.
Moran's photography has appeared in National Geographic, Life, Time, Newsweek, Smithsonian, The New York Times Magazine and on the cover of the National Audubon Society Field Guide to Florida.
Moran's "Journal of Light" collection of Florida photos and essays, was published in 2004. "Journal of Light" debuted in 2005 as a major traveling exhibit of the Florida Museum of Natural History.
He was the State of Florida official nature photographer in 2006, creating a calendar on state lands for the Governor's office and the Department of Environmental Protection.
Moran's ever-evolving Journal of Light keynote speaking programs, detailing a photographer's search for the soul of Florida, have been called "soulful," exquisite," "lyrical,""breathtaking" and "like nothing I have ever seen."
