Hello Friends:

With our third installment of the CTF Newsletter, we continue to make great strides in our mission to protect the working rural landscapes of Florida from suburban sprawl. Though you may not yet see thousands of acres protected, we are in fact laying the groundwork for exactly that. It turns out that, to do this job properly it takes a huge amount of organizational development. We spent much of 2002, and will continue in 2003, in learning and developing as a professional organization.

Included in this newsletter are articles on:

  • Orange Lake Overlook: Open or Developed?
Rally planned to show support for protecting OLO.
  • New CTF Advisory Board Formed
  • New CTF Employees!
  • Membership Renewal
    An Ongoing and Crucial Task!
  • Speaking of Members...
  • Where's the Beef? (Or the Pork, as the Case May Be)
CTF Fundraiser to be held in March.
  • Grants, Grants, Grants
    Four grants received!
  • A Little Piece of Paradise
    Property Donated to CTF
  • Price's Scrub and CTF

Hello Everyone!

Here's a bit of news regarding what the Conservation Trust for Florida has been up to since our last newsletter. Many exciting things have happened as you will see in the articles to follow. We have been fortunate to hire an Executive Director to conduct the day-to-day business of the organization. Gary Meffe took the quarter-time position in June and has been doing an outstanding job of organizing and pursuing projects for us. Gary had been a member of the Board and is a founding member of CTF. He resigned his Board position to become Executive Director and we have replaced him with Judy Greenburg. Judy is a resident of McIntosh and is retired from a career in the insurance industry. She has been an active participant in CTF affairs and we're grateful to have her on board.

Included in this newsletter are articles on:

  • CTF Celebrates First Land Deal!
We Secure and Will Manage 952 Acres in Northern Marion County
  • CTF Receives Major Grant from E.O. Dunn Foundation!
  • More Grant Applications.
  • SF-SF Connection Moving Forward.
  • BIG Dreams!
  • Orange Lake and Overlook: Joy or Despair?
  • CTF has a New Executive Director
  • Spreading the Message
  • Wish List

Dear CTF Members and Friends,

Welcome to the first newsletter of the Conservation Trust for Florida. A special thank you to our 73 new members. With your generous support the Conservation Trust for Florida is off to a running start. Although CTF is new, we have already made some major strides in developing a strong voice for conserving rural lands. As with any such undertaking, two items are essential: public support and money. You have shown that both are available for open space protection of rural lands in Florida, and we thank you.

Included in this newsletter are articles on:

  • Old Florida Forever Barbecue and Startup Celebration
  • City Commission Supports SFSF Wildlife Corridor Project
